Manchester City have made a sensational move for Barcelona superstar Andres Iniesta, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet claims that the Manchester club have presented the 33-year-old with an offer to join forces with former manager Pep Guardiola next season.

It is reported that Iniesta has the option of running down his contract which runs out next summer or choosing to make an eyecatching move to the Premier League before finishing his glittering career in the MLS with New York City.

The report claims that new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has made it clear to the club captain that he is no longer indispensable at the Camp Nou as the Catalan club have decided to put negotiations over a new deal on hold.

It is said that the midfield magician is waiting to see whether he will be involved as a regular starter in the upcoming campaign and he is reportedly determined not to continue should he find himself on the substitutes bench.

The playmaker endured a tough campaign last season as he suffered a number of injuries which kept him out of action for a long time.

Iniesta still managed to contribute with one goal and six assists in all competitions last season, leading Barcelona to their third consecutive Copa del Rey trophy.

The Spaniard has been one of the best players of his generation having won everything on the club and international stage, including a World Cup, two European Championships and four Champions League titles.
