Thomas Christiansen revealed on Saturday that Leeds United will sign a number of new players next week.

The Leeds manager delivered a transfer update that will excite supporters in the wake of his side’s 5-1 pre-season win against Guiseley on Saturday afternoon.

Asked for the latest on the possibility of new signings, Christiansen explained, as quoted on the personal Twitter account of freelance journalist Thomas Feaheny, that “next week we will see the arrival of some new players”.

The new manager’s confidence that at least two new players are heading in will continue what is shaping up to be an extensive summer recruitment drive at United.

It comes two days after Vurnon Anita was unveiled as the Championship club’s sixth summer signing on Thursday after arriving on a free transfer from Newcastle Unied.

The Holland international is the marquee signing to date this summer for Leeds, who have also snapped up goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, midfield pair Madger Gomes and Mateusz Klich and converted the loans of Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko into permanent transfers.

Leeds have also been strongly linked with a number of attacking players, most notably Spanish playmaker Samuel Saiz and Macedonian winger Ezgjan Alioski.

Indeed, it was reported on Friday night that Saiz will jet into Leeds on Monday and finalise a £3million transfer from Spanish club Huesca.

Supporters will go into meltdown at the possibility of at least one other new arrival and, given Christiansen’s comments, deals for two and possibly more new players are already in the bag.

There are also set to be a number of player heading out of the exit door to follow midfielder Luke Murphy, who joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan on Monday, and Lewie Coyle, who sealed a season-long move to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.

Charlie Taylor has also joined Burnley on a permanent transfer.
