Outspoken pundit Stan Collymore has ordered that Rangers have their titles stripped after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of HMRC in their battle with the club following their use of Employee Benefit Trusts .

The BBC website reported on Wednesday that more than £47million was paid by the Ibrox giants to players, managers and directors between 2001 and 2010 in tax-free loans, which HMRC argued the payments were earnings and should be taxable.

Two tribunals had previously found in Rangers’ favour in 2012 and 2014, but after an appeal in 2015, the Court of Session found in favour of HMRC.

Now, the Supreme Court has ruled in favour of HMRC and this has brought many to believe that the Gers’ four Premiership titles they won between 2001 and 2010 now shouldn’t count.

Ex-striker Collymore agreed with this view and he has gone one step further by stating on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that the club should have “every title expunged from the record” after the Supreme Court verdict.

It is detailed in the BBC report that the current Rangers owners will not be affected by this ruling, but it has been a miserable couple of days for the club after they also suffered a shock elimination from the Europa League on Tuesday evening following 2-1 aggregate defeat in Luxembourg.
