Pedro Caixinha would claw back the respect of Rangers fans by re-signing versatile forward Kane Hemmings from Oxford United.

Portuguese boss Caixinha is in the bad books with the Ibrox faithful after his side were shockingly knocked out of the Europa League qualifying rounds by Luxembourg minnows Progres Niedercorn.

Losing 2-1 on aggregate after Wednesday night’s 2-0 loss, Caixinha was seen arguing with fans in the streets of Luxembourg outside the stadium while the team bus was heckled as it left the Stadium.

Caixinha has already made eight signings this summer but he needs to do something that will endear fans to him after such a dismal loss that saw the Gers hit the bar three times throughout out the match.

Hemmings, 26, made 10 senior appearances for Rangers after joining the 54-time Scottish champions way back in July 2008 from Tamworth, before leaving Ibrox to join Cowdenbeath in the summer of 2013.

This Is FutbolĀ identifies three ways in which signing former Gers attacker Hemmings would begin to repay the debt Caixinha owes to fans, after failing to see them qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.
