Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The club announced the 26-year-old’s arrival on the club’s official Twitter account after a string of cryptic clues leading to the announcement.

Lacazette has been strongly linked to the north London club throughout the summer transfer window and has finally made the move to join the Gunners.

The club announced on their official website that the Frenchman had joined Arsenal on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Before the official announcement the club tweeted a series of videos which featured a new player in training, and asked fans to “guess who”.

The north Londoners revealed Lacazette’s arrival in a message which stated he was the player the fans had been waiting for, and posted a picture of the former Ligue 1 goal-machine in the new Arsenal jersey.

According to the club’s website, Lacazette is expected to travel with the squad to Australia this weekend in order to make his debut in the Emirates Cup at the end of July.

The French international’s goal-scoring credentials will be warmly welcomed at the Emirates as the club aim to clinch a higher spot in the Premier League table and therefore snatch their Champions League spot back.

Last season Lacazette was Ligue 1’s second highest goal scorer last season after he netted a staggering 28 goals in 30 games.
