Aston Villa would finally end their problem position between the sticks by seizing the moment and signing in-form Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward this summer.

Ward had revealed to the Daily Mail that he could rejoin Huddersfield this summer after spending the 2016-17 season on loan with the Yorkshire outfit last season, but a move seems to have failed to materialise.

“This time of year you haven’t got a clue what is round the corner, so take each day as it comes,” Ward said. “Promotion has changed things for me. It is a chance to go and play in the Premier League.”

However, Huddersfield boss David Wagner has since signed Mainz goalkeeper Jonas Lossl on a season-long loan and that could see other clubs to move for the Wales international in the summer.

Steve Bruce is yet to make a summer signing at Villa, but will be in the market for a new goalkeeper and Ward could be high on the promotion expert’s agenda.

This Is FutbolĀ considers three reasons in which the lofty stopper would improve Aston Villa’s promotion charge on the Championship next season as Bruce eyes a fifth career promotion to the Premier League.
