Pedro Caixinha has taken the first steps into sorting out his Rangers midfield this summer, by offloading Andy Halliday to FC Gabala and sign ex-Aberdeen captain Ryan Jack.
However, work still needs to be done with the likes of Jordan Rossiter and Jason Holt not good enough and should be sold, while decisions must be made over the futures of Josh Windass and Niko Kranjcar.
With room likely to be made in the middle of the park, Irvine should be brought in to add both the quality and cover in Caixinha’s midfield.
