Brighton have made a £1million offer for Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine but Rangers should throw their hat into the ring and rival the Seagulls.

The Daily Record‘s transfer news blog (Saturday, 20.46pm) claimed Chris Hughton’s side have made a bid for the Brewers man, who has shone in the Championship this season.

Irvine, 24, inspired the Staffordshire-based club to Championship survival as he proved an attacking outlet from the middle of the park and was even picked for Australia to represent his country at the Confederations Cup – appearing against Cameroon and Chile.

Rangers have already made eight new signings this summer as Caixinha looks to claw back Celtic, including the likes of Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Daniel Candeias and Eduardo Herrera.
