Olivier Ntcham’s former manager has been singing the youngster’s praises ahead of his proposed move to Celtic from Manchester City this summer.

The 21-year-old midfielder was reported by the Daily Mail to have undergone a medical on Saturday night, and was photographed in Glasgow with his transfer looking imminent.

His arrival at Celtic Park will be Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer, after he brought in Jonny Hayes from Aberdeen and Kundai Benyu from Ipswich.

However, Ntcham’s former boss Andrea Mandorlini, who watched over the youngster during his loan spell at Genoa last season, says that the Hoops could have a real star on their hands if he continues to develop in the way he has been.

He credits his hard working attitude and confidence in his ability on the ball as the reasons behind his success and believes he will continue to grow following his move.

He told the Daily Record: “He has incredible potential and it’s clear he will be a star.

“I have the highest regard for his talent – he has a big future. He’s had to work hard this season and there is a lot more to come.

“He has shown a willingness to listen and improve. He is a kid who is very, very comfortable on the ball.”

His two year loan spell at the Italian side saw Ntcham make 41 appearances across all competitions, hitting home three goals as well as providing two assists for his team mates.

A France Under-21 international, he joined Manchester City in a £1million deal from La Havre back in 2012 but failed to break into the Citizens’ first team, despite signing a five-year contract extension in 2015.

He did make 46 appearances for the Sky Blues’ Under-23 side, making his debut back in October 2012, and he managed to grab five goals and four assists for the development squad.
