Wolves make £14m bid for Liverpool target Neves

|

Wolves have tabled a £14million bid for Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim that the ambitious Championship club are in talks with the Portugese big hitters to seal a deal for the two-times Portugal international.

The Mail report that Premier League big hitters Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are also looking at signing Neves, who turned 20 in March.

It is said that Wolves adviser Jorge Mendes, whose Gestifute agency manages the 20-year-0ld, is at the heart of a possible transfer that would raise further question marks about his split interests.

Neves is a central midfielder who might have represented his country but struggled for form last season when he made 18 appearances for Porto, 13 of which came in the league.

The Mail report that Porto are struggling financially and a deal with second-tier Wolves would alleviate concerns that they could face UEFA sanctions for breaching Financial Fair Play guidelines.

Neves has made 93 appearances in all competitions for Porto and supplemented his four goals with three assists.

Wolves recognise that they need to strengthen their squad to challenge strongly for promotion next season after finishing 15th in the Championship in 2016-17.
