Tottenham have been installed odds-on favourites to sign Everton’s Ross Barkley this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet priced the London giants at 4/7 on Sunday night to secure a deal for the England international, 23, before the transfer window shuts in early September.
Tottenham are runaway favourites to seal a deal for Barkley, 23, with the next best priced club Arsenal set at a distant 10/1, while West Ham are 16/1.
The odds on Spurs signing Barkley have narrowed from in May, when they were 11/5 outsiders to land one of the brightest prospects in English football, lagging behind 6/4 then favourites West Ham.
It comes after speculation on Sunday that a deal for Barley to sign for Tottenham this summer has edged closer following a chance of stance from Everton.
The Independent reported that the Merseysiders are willing to relent on their £50million asking price in order to reach an agreement to sell a player who is hugely admired by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Barkley has been a part of the Everton set-up for 12 years but has snubbed the club’s offer of a new contract and made it clear he wants to find a new challenge.
The playmaker was dropped from the Toffees’ starting line-up by Ronald Koeman on a few occasions last season but still returned five goals and nine assists in 36 Premier League appearances.
