Former midfielder turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has told that he can see Tottenham adding a new number 10 alongside strengthening the wide areas this summer.

The north London club have had a quiet window so far after finishing in second place in the Premier League last season with no players joining.

This has caused some concern among the fan base, while others feel that there aren’t many affordable improvements on the team’s impressive starting eleven.

Now, speaking about Tottenham’s summer window Redknapp has told that the club are finding it difficult to make signings due to their player strength already, but that he could still see Spurs adding some new attacker reinforcements as they need to thicken the squad.

“I’m not so worried about Tottenham. I said this at the end of last season but for Spurs it’s probably the most difficult for them to acquire players because they’ve got it all there,” told Redknapp to the Sky Sports website.

“The two centre-backs are fantastic. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are probably the best two centre-backs in the Premier League. They’ve got a great midfield with Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier. You’ve got Harry Kane up front so if you buy a striker he’s only going to be someone who wants to come in and play every now and again.

“They are the team who face the hardest task buying players. If you can go and get someone to maybe take the burden off Dele Alli in the number 10 role or strengthen in one of the wide areas, I can see that but it is a bit more difficult with Tottenham. If anything they just need to thicken the squad up.”

Tottenham have made huge progression under manager Mauricio Pochettino since he took charge in the summer of 2014, helping them to a fifth, third and second placed finish.

However, he has often struggled to strengthen the team in the market with such flops as Moussa Sissoko, Vincent Janssen, Clinton N’Jie and Kevin Wimmer all joining.

Last summer’s window was a particularly bad one for the club with both Janssen and Sissoko joining alongside Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Victor Wanyama and the midfield enforcer proved to be the only one to make an impact on the first team.

But, as the club prepares for a Champions League campaign as well as playing their home matches at Wembley next season they will be hoping for a much better window this time around.
