Newcastle must replace the loss of Vurnon Anita by bringing Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy back to St. James’ Park this summer.
Holland international Anita saw his contract expire at Newcastle and has been snapped up on a free transfer by last season’s Championship opponents Leeds, with the versatile ace putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
The Mirror claim Arsenal could allow France international Debuchy, 31, to leave this summer, as they have to adhere to Premier League guidelines which states a top-flight squad cannot have more than 17 foreigners.
Following the signing of Lacazette, a number of non-British stars could be put up for sale and Debuchy is reportedly one of those after an injury-blighted stay in north London following his move to Arsenal from Newcastle in 2014.
