Nottingham Forest talisman Britt Assombalonga could leave the club for a £10million transfer to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.

This comes after Nottingham Post writer Paul Taylor revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Championship side had recently rejected an £8million bid from Premier League side Burnley for the 24-year-old.

The newspaper claims that Burnley manager Sean Dyche is looking to bring in a replacement for striker Andre Gray who looks set to leave the club this summer.

The report also claims that Championship side Middlesborough are also interested in securing the services of the Forest man in the transfer window.

The Mail reports that the Midlands club will not listen to any offers below £10million for the striker and manager Mark Warburton is adamant that Assombalonga will not be leaving the City Ground this summer.

The Congolese striker finished the campaign as Forest’s leading goalscorer, notching up 14 goals in the league last season.

The centre-forward was the hero on the final day of the Championship season as he scored two goals against Ipswich Town which prevented Forest from relegation.

Forest will need to keep hold of the striker if they are going to have any chance of improving on their 21st place finish in the league last season.

Assombalonga’s current contract at the City Ground runs out in 2021.
