Newcastle United have been given fresh hope in their bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the Premier League champions are ready to send Loftus-Cheek, 21, out on loan for the 2017-18 campaign amid strong interest from the Magpies.

The Mirror report that the Chelsea central midfielder has held talks with another Premier League club about a transfer although it does not go as far as to say that club in Newcastle.

Rafael Benitez’s side have already signed one player from Stamford Bridge this summer, with Christian Atsu converted his loan from last season into a permanent £5million transfer.

The Magpies have turned their attention to Loftus-Cheek after being strongly linked with him during the January transfer window.

The 17 times England Under-21 international is highly thought of at Chelsea and is widely regarded as a rising star of English football but he has been unable to cement his place in the first team after graduating from the club’s youth team ranks.

Loftus-Cheek has made 32 first-team appearances but most of those have been as a substitute.

The youngster’s current contract at Stamford Bride expires in 2021.
