Arsenal have joined a host of top flight clubs in the pursuit of Inter Milan’s central midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to ESPN FC.

The sports broadcaster claim on their specialist football website that the Gunners have joined Manchester United and Chelsea in lining up a move for the versatile 24-year-old, with Inter willing to see him depart the San Siro this summer.

ESPN FC report that Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of Brozovic and deployed scouts to watch him on a number of occasions last season.

They say that the Italian side need to offload players in order to comply with financial fair play regulations and it appears Brozovic is a player who could make way.

Calcio Mercato have previously reported that fellow Premier League side Everton have been offered the Croatian international for a fee of £17.5million after holding talks with officials from the Italian club, but it awaits to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to secure the same deal.

Brozovic, who can operate in the centre of the park, push up into an attacking role behind the striker or play on the right wing, had a mixed season in terms of his form, as he grabbed six goals and four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.

He was left out of the squad at the beginning of the season by boss Luciano Spalletti, before returning to the side for a series of starts and substitute appearances.

The midfielder also has 26 appearances for Croatia since his debut back in 2014, most recently in a surprise 1-0 loss to Iceland in June, and has managed to grab six international goals.
