Everton are considering making a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic after being offered the player for £17.5million, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian football news website reported that a contingent of Everton officials, headed by director of football Steve Walsh, met with a variety of Italian clubs on a trip to the country, including Inter’s local rivals AC Milan.

The report claims that the Italian club are willing to part ways with creative midfielder Brozovic, 24, after his performances have failed to impress Luciano Spalletti, and have offered him to the Toffees for a fee of £17.5million (€20million).

The 26-time-capped Croatian international scored four goals and tallied four assists in his 23 league appearances for Inter last season, but doubts over his consistency and attitude seems to have secured his fate at the San Siro.

He has been at the Italian side since July 2016 after signing from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb for £4.2million following a successful year and a half loan spell at the club, and is currently contracted until 2021.

Ronald Koeman is actively seeking to improve in the centre of the park this summer, with 23-year-old attacking midfielder Ross Barkley looking a likely departure after rejecting a contract extension at the club.

The Toffees have been linked with a number of big money signings, with Bild reporting a £21million move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Hakan Calhanoglu and De Telegraaf claiming talks have opened over securing the signing of Ajax’s £26million-rated man Davy Klaassen.
