West Ham are refusing to give up on signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer, according to Claret and Hugh.

The independent Hammers news site has claimed that the east Londoners are looking to add at least two forwards this summer and that they have not lost hope in bringing in the 30-year-old who has declared his determination to remain as part of the Gunners.

It is stated that the club believe “events could change rapidly” now for Giroud with Arsenal having already brought in goal machine Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £46.5million.

It is likely that the experienced Giroud will now fall behind his fellow Frenchman in the striker pecking order and at this stage of his career as well as the World Cup coming up next summer he will be keen to see as much first team action as possible.

Now, West Ham want to get their new additions in as soon as possible as they prepare for the new campaign, but it is also stated that the Giroud situation may not become clear until August.

However, given the Hammers needs for some added firepower to their team this summer they may wait for the 64-time capped France international, who bagged 12 goals in 29 Premier League appearances last season.
