Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala this summer, according to France Football.

The French newspaper claims that the club’s sporting director Antero Henrique is seriously studying the option to bring the 26-year-old to the Ligue 1 side.

The report claims that the French giants want to add more defensive options to the squad after they missed out on signing Portugal international Pepe who decided to join Turkish side Besiktas this summer.

It is said that the Premier League side value the French defender around £22million, which represents a £20million discount, but PSG would prefer to secure a loan deal this summer as they are not willing to spend big money.

The Ligue 1 side will reportedly bide their time before making a move for Mangala as they plan to weigh up all possible options.

The Frenchman secured a permanent deal to the Etihad Stadium for what the Telegraph report was a fee of £42million at the start of the 2014-15 season but he failed to impress in his debut campaign in the Premier League.

Although the central defender has helped City keep 20 clean sheets during his short career in Manchester, he was prone to mistakes and never managed to form a partnership with club captain Vincent Kompany.

Mangala was sent out on loan to La Liga side Valencia last season where he featured in 33 matches in all competitions.

The Frenchman currently has two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
