Manchester United are convinced that they can complete a deal to sign Inter Milan playmaker Ivan Perisic this week, according to the Independent.

The newspaper claims that the sources close to the Manchester club believe that United will come close to matching the Italian’s side asking price and pay a fee of between £45million and £50million for the 28-year-old.

The Independent report that United sources are hopeful a deal can be struck “over the next few days”.

This comes after Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on his personal website that the Croatian forward had agreed personal terms to join Old Trafford next season but both clubs were not close to agreeing a fee.

The Croatian has been one of Inter’s most consistent performers since securing a permanent move to Italy two years ago.

Perisic enjoyed his best campaign with the club in terms of numbers last season, contributing with 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

The playmaker’s impressive performances were not enough to guide Inter into the European places as they finished just one point outside of the top six.

Perisic’s arrival to United next season would certainly help them in the goalscoring department as the Manchester club struggled to find the back of the net last season, only notching up a total of 54 Premier League goals.

The Croatian’s current contract at the San Siro runs out in 2020.
