In a difficult summer so far for Newcastle the club look to have been dealt a new challenge as they are set to miss out on four wing targets, according to reliable journalist Craig Hope.

The north east giants appear to be turning their attentions to signing a new wide player and the Chronicle reported on Monday that the Magpies were prioritising a winger this week, while also stating that they will look for answers on both Norwich attacker Jacob Murphy and Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore.

It also said that while they had looked into bringing in free agent Jesus Navas it was looking most likely that he would return to Sevilla on a deal worth £1.3million per year.

Meanwhile, the Times also reported on Sunday that Newcastle were eyeing Liverpool attacker Sheyi Ojo in a loan deal alongside close rivals Middlesbrough.

However, in a string of Tweets which saw Daily Mail correspondent Hope give updates via his personal Twitter account on the quartet he explained that both Middlesbrough and Liverpool’s valuations were too high on Traore and Ojo, while Murphy was not for sale from Norwich and for Navas he simply said “no chance.”

Manager Rafa Benitez is reported to be growing frustrated at the club following claims that he has missed out on both Tammy Abraham and Willy Caballero this summer as he plans to strengthen his side after winning the Championship last season.

If Hope’s Tweets are correct then they won’t help the situation at the north east giants either with only Florian Lejeune and Christian Atsu signing so far.
