Romelu Lukaku was undergoing an overnight Manchester United medical in California ahead of completing a £75million transfer from Everton, according to the Sun.
The newspaper claim United are closing in on the signing of the Belgian international after agreeing a sensational deal with the Merseysiders for the 24-year-old striker that will make him the fourth most expensive player in history.
The Sun report that the medical tests will take place at the UCLA campus on the west coast of the United States after United stole in ahead of Chelsea to land Lukaku.
It is said that the Belgium international has agreed the terms of a five-year contract worth £250,000-a-week as he puts the finishing touches to a transfer that could now be sealed within days.
Lukaku has been strongly linked with a return to former club Chelsea but they have not yet agreed the sale of Diego Costa and United have taken advantage with a stunning swoop.
Lukaku spent three years at the west London club but he was sold by current United boss Jose Mourinho in 2014 after barely getting a look-in under the Portugese.
The Belgian powerhouse has made a huge impression at Goodison Park over the last three years, notching up a total of 87 goals in all competitions and was the Premier League’s second top scorer with 25 goals last season.
Lukaku’s current contract at Everton runs out in the summer of 2019.
