Tottenham have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Leicester forward Demarai Gray, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the England Under-21 international does not have a high release clause inserted in his contract to put off bidders.

It has previously been widely reported that Gray has a £22million buy-out figure that was deterring the Londoners and other clubs from pushing for a deal.

But the Mirror now claim that the wide man, 21, can be prised from Leicester at a lower price, which will be welcomed by Mauricio Pochettino, who is said to be  big admirer of his.

Gray has spoken of his frustration at his lack of game time at the King Power Stadium since signing from Birmingham for £3.5million in January 2016.

He has played second fiddle to Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton, with most of his 55 appearances for the 2015-16 Premier League champions coming as a substitute.

Gray admitted it was “very tough” to make only nine league starts last season, with his other 21 appearances in the competition coming as a substitute.

But the speed machine, who is renowned for his tricks and skills, demonstrated his pedigree with his performances for England Under-21s in the recent European Championships.

He started and scored for Aidy Bothroyd’s age-group side as they drew 2-2 against Germany in the semi-final but lost out 4-3 on penalties.

Spurs fans watching the match were blown away by Gray’s performance and urged Pochettino and White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy to push through a deal this summer.
