Everton have made a bid worth £2.6million for Ingolstadt centre-back Marcel Tisserand, according to RMC Sport.

The French news outlet claims that the Toffees are in a race with St. Etienne for the 24-year-old, but have stumped up a higher offer of £4.3million to try and lure him back to Ligue 1.

RMC Sport reports that St. Etienne had their bid for the former Toulouse and Monaco stopper turned down and that negotiations are still taking place.

DR Congo’s international defender Tisserand is said to be rated at £7million by 2.Bundesliga outfit Ingolstadt, who only signed him from current Ligue 1 champions Monaco last summer.

Tisserand made 28 appearances across all competitions for Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga last term, but couldn’t help them avoid relegation to the German second tier despite featuring in surprise wins against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

The ten-times DR Congo international, who was born in France, would become Ronald Koeman’s second defensive addition of the summer if he was to join, following Michael Keane who secured a transfer from Burnley.

It’s been a very busy summer for the Toffees, who have completed the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United as they splashed the cash on Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Keane, Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez, while also making additions to their development squads.
