Tom Cleverley has completed a transfer from Everton to Watford, it has been confirmed.

The Merseysiders announced on their official website on Saturday that the box-to-box midfielder has finalised a switch to Vicarage Road on the day the transfer window is officially opened.

Everton have not divulged how much Watford have paid for Cleverley but the Mail reported that the fee to convert his loan into a permanent deal was set at £8million.

Cleverley has rejuvenated his career at the Hertfordshire club in the second half of last season following a difficult spell at Everton following the arrival of Ronald Koeman last summer.

He was a mainstay under Walter Mazzarri, making 17 Premier League appearances as they maintained their Premier League status for the second consecutive campaign.

Cleverley will be hoping for similar involvement under new manager Marco Silva, who has taken offer after Mazzarri was sacked in the summer.

The 27-year-old, who joined Everton on a free transfer in the summer of 2015, had three years to run on his contract at the Merseysiders.

He made 42 appearances for the club but slipped down the pecking order following the arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye, and the stunning emergence of academy product Tom Davies.
