Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has been granted permission to talk to other clubs on Wednesday over a season-long loan deal during the summer transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

This follows up from the story in the Times which reported that the Premier League champions are prepared to let the 22-year-old leave Stamford Bridge on loan this summer following the arrival of defender Antonio Rudiger.

The newspaper claims that Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are among a host of teams across Europe who are set to hold talks with the Frenchman over a potential deal on Wednesday.

This comes after the story in the Mirror which recently reported that West Brom were leading the race to land the central defender.

The Standard reports that the Blues want Zouma to get some much needed first-team experience under his belt, and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also eager to give defender Andreas Christensen a chance next season following his two-year loan spell with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Frenchman missed the majority of last season due to a horrific knee ligament injury but the Blues did not appear to miss his presence as they managed to clinch their fifth Premier League title in style.

Zouma only managed to compete in nine league matches last season and he only managed to complete 90 minutes on five separate occasions in all competitions.

The defender’s current contract with Chelsea runs out in 2019.
