West Bromwich Albion are ramping up their efforts to secure Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on a loan deal, according to a report in the Mirror.

The newspaper report that Tony Pulis is eager to win the race for the 22-year-old, but faces competition from over 20 other clubs for the centre-back.

The Mirror has revealed that Ligue 1 clubs including Nice, Lyon and Marseille are all interested in the France international, as well as Spanish teams Sevilla and Valencia are also interested in bagging the star.

It is said that Zouma is keen to stay in London, but the Baggies boss is determined to convince the defender to make the move to the Midlands and join the fellow Premier League club.

The report follows a story in The Times which revealed that Antonio Conte was prepared to let the Frenchman leave the club on loan for the upcoming season.

It is thought that Champions are ready to let the the 22-year-old go out on loan in order to help with his recovery from a cruciate ligament rupture.

Zouma was out of action for 11 months with the knee injury, which saw him miss the beginning of the previous season and make just 17 appearances in total across all competitions, and a loan spell would allow him to return to full fitness.

The France international moved to Stamford Bridge in 2014 from Saint-Etienne in a deal worth just over £12 million, and he has since gone on to make a total of 71 appearances for the west London club.

The centre-back’s contract is set to expire in 2019.
