Rudiger reveals his love for Arsenal despite potential Chelsea move

Chelsea’s potential summer signing Antonio Rudiger has revealed in the past that his “heart beats for Arsenal”, according to a report in Football London.

The media outlet has quoted the 24-year-old Roma defender as openly admitting that he has a soft spot for Arsene Wenger’s squad.

The report states that Rudiger has made the comments despite being set to sign with the Premier League winners in a deal worth £34 million.

It is said that the centre-back wears an Arsenal jersey with Alexis Sanchez’ name on the back in addition to keeping up to date with the Gunners’ videos on YouTube.

Football.London have quoted the Roma player saying that he has supported the north London club since Henry and Bergkamp were part of the squad.

“I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp,” Rudiger said.

“I have always dreamed of the Premier League. I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt. My heart beats for Arsenal.”

The news will shock Chelsea fans after Sky Sports Italy reported on Tuesday that the Serie A defender was taking part in a medical with Antonio Conte’s side.

Rudiger joined Roma from Stuttgart last summer in a deal worth just over £7 million, and during his debut season he made 36 appearances where he bagged one goal and provided four assists.

The German international will be Conte’s second signing during the transfer window after the club managed to secure former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero on a free transfer.
