Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has personally called Zinedine Zidane to explain he will not be joining Real Madrid this summer, according to Diaro Gol.

The Spanish media outlet has revealed that the 26-year-old reached out to the La Liga boss to confirm that he would remain at Stamford Bridge for at least another season.

Diaro Gol claims that the Chelsea attacker doesn’t think this summer would be the right time to move to Real Madrid, but has asked the French manager to keep the door open at Bernabeu Stadium as he would be open to a transfer in the future.

It is said that the Belgian is incredibly eager to play under Zidane’s leadership, but is focused on remaining consistent with his career ahead of the World Cup.

This story follows a report last month from Don Balon which claimed that the Real Madrid boss had urged the club president Florentino Perez to sign Hazard this summer.

Hazard made a vital contribution to Chelsea’s title win last season as he scored 16 goals and provided five assists during his 36 Premier League appearances.

However, the Belgian attacker looks set to be sidelined for the opening games of Chelsea’s 2017/18 campaign after the 26-year-old fractured his ankle while on international duty in June.

The Chelsea star has undergone surgery on his ankle and boss Antonio Conte is hoping he will make a quick recovery in order to help the club in their efforts to retain the title.

Hazard joined the London outfit in 2012  from French club Lille in a deal worth £30 million, and he is contracted to the club until 2020.
