Aston Villa are the clear favourites to sign Stoke City striker Peter Crouch, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have placed the Championship side at 6/5 on Sunday evening to secure the signature of the 36-year-old forward during the summer transfer window.
The Midlands club are currently a long way ahead of a number of teams who are also credited with an interest in signing the former England international this summer with local rivals Birmingham City placed at 7/1, with both Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town at 22/1.
This follows up from the story in the Sun which reported that Villa boss Steve Bruce is seriously considering bringing the striker to the club this summer.
Villa will need to add some firepower this summer as they are likely to start the new campaign without last year’s top goalscorer Jonathan Kodjia, who suffered a terrible ankle injury in the penultimate league match last season.
Crouch made his name at Villa Park during the early stages of his footballing career, scoring six goals in 36 appearances in all competitions for the first-team.
The striker has since enjoyed a fine career and last season, he became the 26th player in Premier League history to notch up 100 goals following his strike for Stoke in the 1-1 home draw against Everton.
