Three things we have learned from Arsenal’s pre-season tour

Wenger adamant about the Ox

Another thing that was revealed during Arsenal’s pre-season tour was Arsene Wenger’s thoughts surrounding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future at the Emirates.

After the Gunners’ 3-1 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers the Arsenal boss was asked whether he expected the 23-year-old to stay at the Emirates this summer.

The French manager told the Arsenal media, and was quoted on the club’s official website: “Yes, 100 per cent I expect him to stay. There is no speculation – no matter what happens he will stay.”

Wenger’s adamant reply follows a recent report from Gianluca Di Marzio who stated that the Arsenal manager had offered to swap Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for Chelsea’s midfielder Nemanja Matic.

Despite the reports, Wenger’s confidence in keeping the 23-year-old  appeared enough to squash all rumours of a potential departure over the coming few weeks.
