Newcastle United have been installed as clear favourites to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Bet Victor priced the north-east giants at 6/4 to land the England international, 27, before the transfer window shuts at the start of September.
Newcastle are well ahead in the betting of Premier League rivals West Brom and Liverpool, who are both 4/1 to sign Gibbs.
The odds have been slashed on Newcastle signing Gibbs, with Ladbrokes pricing them at 3/1 last month to land the long-established Arsenal man.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal are willing to sell Gibbs if their £15million valuation is met.
Arsenal’s number three was limited to just 22 appearances in all competitions this season, with only 11 coming in the Premier League as he played second fiddle to Spaniard Nacho Monreal.
That has been Gibbs’ status for a number of years at Emirates Stadium and he has been pushed even further down the pecking order after Arsenal announced that they have signed Bosnian left-back Saed Kolasinac following the expiry of his Schalke contract last month.
It appears inevitable that Gibbs will now move on, almost a decade after making his Arsenal debut in a League Cup match against Sheffield United in October 2007.
