Lewis Walters has announced that he has signed a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old front man confirmed the news on his personal Instagram account on Friday evening that he had pen-to-paper on a new deal at the City Ground.

Walters initially signed for Forest on a short-term deal last September after he was released by Leeds.

He failed to make much of an impact at the club last season, and he did not make a single first team appearance, instead he played for Forest’s Under-23s outfit for much of the 2016-17 campaign.

However, despite his quiet start to life in the East Midlands, he is determined to be a success at the Championship outfit next term.

In a message on his personal Instagram account, he said: “Delighted to have signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest. Looking forward to this year. Hopefully it’s going to be a big one.”

Forest finished 21st in last season’s Championship, as they narrowly avoided relegation to League One.

The City Ground club’s manager Mark Warburton has already begun to prepare his squad for next season by signing front man Jason Cummings from Hibernian.

However, Apolostolos Vellios looks to be on his way out as he was spotted in Greece ahead of a move to Olympiacos, so Warburton may see Walters as a potential replacement for him.
