Nottingham Forest striker Apostolos Vellios is in Greece ahead of a possible move to Olympiacos, according to a Nottingham Post report.

The newspaper claims the 25-year-old striker could seal a move to the Greek champions within the next 48 hours.

It is said the Forest squad were supposed to report for pre-season training on Thursday, but Vellios posted a picture of himself in Thessaloniki on Friday on his personal Instagram account.

Olympiacos are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, who recently completed a takeover of Forest.

Vellios only signed for the East Midlands club last summer from Greek outfit Iraklis Salonika in a £1million switch, and he went on to have a decent 2016-17 campaign.

The 25-year-old netted six goals in 28 Championship appearances, one of which was voted by the fans as Forest’s goal of the season.

The Greek striker has had somewhat of a journeyman career, which has seen him play for the likes of Lierse SK in Belgium, Vestsjaelland in Denmark, as well as Blackpool and Everton.

During his three year spell at Goodison Park between 2011 and 2014 he failed to make any sort of impact, scoring only three goals in 24 league and cup games.

Vellios has been capped by Greece on six occasions, but he was an unused substitute in their 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier this month.
