Watford are primed to make a summer swoop for Chelsea ace Nathaniel Chalobah, according to a Mail Online report.

The newspaper claims the Hornets are monitoring the 22-year-old defensive midfielder’s situation, as he is due to undergo contract talks with Blues manager Antonio Conte.

It is said Chalobah only has one year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, and that he could he prompted into a move if regular football is not guaranteed at his boyhood club next season.

However, the report states that Serie A outfit Torino are also circling, should the England Under-21 international decide to make a switch.

Chalobah joined Chelsea’s academy in 2005, and he initially broke into the first team in the summer of 2012.

However, since then he has played just 15 league and cup games for the club, as he has been repeatedly loaned out.

The 22-year-old has been farmed out to Watford, Nottingham Forest, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Reading and most recently Napoli, but he spent the 2016-17 at Chelsea.

He was used sparingly by Conte last term, making only 10 appearances in all competition, with nine of them coming from the bench.

Chalobah has been capped on 40 occasions by England Under-21s, and he featured in all four of the side’s European Under-21 Championships matches this summer.
