Talks deepen on Bellusci transfer

|

Greek club PAOK will hold a second round of talks to discuss the transfer of defender Giuseppe Bellusci from Leeds United, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian transfer cite claim a first set of negotiations between Bellusci’s representatives and PAOK chiefs in Germany yesterday (Thursday) were fruitful.

Calcio Mercato report that fresh discussions will take place to thrash out what will be a permanent deal rather than a season-long loan.

It is not said if the new Bellusci talks will also take place in Germany, where PAOK are on a training camp.

New Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen revealed on Wednesday night that the centre-back is not in his plans for 2017-18 even though he has a year remaining on his contract.

Italian trio Bologna, Cagliari and Benevento are also keeping close tabs on Bellusci, who spent last season on loan Empoli after two controversy-strewn seasons in the Leeds team.

Bellusci was signed in the summer of 2014 for £1.6million but was sent off on his debut against Watford and infuriated fans when he was among a group of players who refused to play among ex-manager Neil Redfearn, seemingly on the instructions of then-chairman Massimo Cellino.

Leeds fans jeered him during a pre-season friendly last weekend as they made it clear they do not want to see him play another competitive match for the club.
