Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that the club are looking to sign “two or three” more players before the summer transfer window shuts.

Villa have only managed to bring in one player this summer but it was a massive signing as former England and Chelsea captain John Terry completed a deal with the Championship side on a free transfer.

Bruce is set to take charge of his first full campaign at Villa Park and he will be hopeful that the team can improve on their disappointing 13th place finish last season.

The 56-year-old enjoyed great success in his last full season in the Championship as he guided Hull City to promotion via the playoffs during the 2015-16 campaign.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Bruce outlined that he is far from finished in the transfer window and he is determined to bring in some new faces before the new season.

“We are still hoping to bring two or three additions into the club,” he said

“I hope we can do a bit of business pretty soon.

“The good thing is that if you can get the players in and settled before the season starts, it’s always an enormous help.”

Villa have been linked with a number of Premier League players throughout the summer as the Mirror recently reported that Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan is eager to play his football at Villa Park next season.

The Birmingham Mail also reported that Bruce is in talks with Hull City full-back Ahmed Elmohamady over a potential summer move.

The Villa boss will be hopeful that he can complete all potential deals in time for the opening game of the Championship season when Hull visit Villa Park next month.
