Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga is searching for a new club after being omitted from Leeds United’s squad for their pre-season tour of Austria, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim that the enforcer, 30, will not be in the party selected by manager Thomas Christiansen that jets out on Friday for the three-match trip.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Diagouraga is “searching for another transfer” after spending the second half of last season on loan at Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

It is said that Diagouraga is heading for the exit door even though Leeds are short of defensive options and he was selected to play as an emergency centre-back once again in their pre-season friendly win over North Ferriby on Wednesday night.

With Giuseppe Bellusci in talks to join Greek club PAOK and 2016-17 loanee Kyle Bartley back at parent club Swansea, Leeds’ only senior centre-back options are Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson, who will miss the first two matches of the new campaign with a suspension carried over from last season.

Diagouraga’s time at United is coming to an end after just 20 appearances following his January 2016 arrival from Brentford for a fee of around £650,000.

He was frozen out of the first team set-up under former manager Garry Monk in the immediate wake of last season’s opening-day defeat to QPR.

Diagouraga has a year remaining on his Leeds contract.
