Barnsley star Andy Yiadom would give Steve Bruce the depth required to mount a promotion charge in the Championship if he can lure the defender to Aston Villa ahead of two Premier League sides.

The Sun claims both Swansea and Huddersfield are interested in the 25-year-old right-back, who starred for Yorkshire outfit Barnsley throughout the 2016-17 campaign.

It is said that a figure of £2million will be enough to sign the one-time Ghana international, whose performances at Oakwell led to the international call-up back in January 2017.

A transfer should be completed smoothly with Barnsley likely to want to sell their defender now and receive a fee rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer, as he has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

This Is Futbol explains why the former Barnet defender would be the perfect signing at Villa Park as Bruce looks to add pace and excitement to a side that struggled to catch the eye, with Premier League promotion in his sights.
