Leicester City are in advanced talks with Manchester City over a £25 million deal for striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to ESPN FC.

The sports media outlet revealed that the 20-year-old star is closing in on a move to the fellow Premier League team.

ESPN claim that the Foxes are now at the final stages of discussions with Pep Guardiola’s side and are the frontrunners to swoop in on the Nigeria international.

It is said that now West Ham have dropped out of the race, it has paved way for Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare to make a move for the City forward.

This report follows up from the recent claims from Sky Sports sources, who stated that West Ham were no longer interested in pursuing the Nigerian and that Leicester now looked to be the most likely destination for the forward.

Now, the former title winners look to land the striker in a mega-money deal.

Iheanacho arrived at the Etihad in 2015 after he climbed the ranks and joined from the Under-18 squad.

However, since his move, the 20-year-old has struggled to secure his space within the first team over the past two seasons.

During the previous campaign, Iheanacho had a frustrating time trying to find his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad, as although the forward was already a back-up to Sergio Aguero, he then fell even further in the pecking order to January’s arrival of Gabriel Jesus.

The Nigerian featured in Guardiola’s starting XI just once throughout his 29 appearances, where he scored seven goals and provided three assists.
