Werder Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald is on his way to Leeds after reaching an agreement to leave the Bundesliga side, according to Kicker.

The German news outlet has detailed on their website that the 27-year-old shot-stopper has had plenty of interest in his signature from a number of European sides such as Nantes and PAOK Saloniki.

However, it is the Yorkshire giants who have reportedly won the race for him with Kicker stating that he is switching to Thomas Christiansen’s side.

Wiedwald has been a part of the Werder Bremen squad for two years after making the switch from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2015.

He has been a frequent part of the Bundesliga club’s first team during his time in Bremen and has competed in 65 encounters, keeping nine clean sheets while conceding 122 times in total.

Last season alone he played 26 times in all competitions with 25 of those appearances coming in the Bundesliga and he kept five clean sheets, while conceding 49 times.

Leeds themselves only brought in veteran Rob Green last summer and he acquired the number one shirt with little competition from backup Marco Silvestri.

However, the 37-year-old may find it more of a challenge in the next campaign if Wiedwald does join Christiansen’s side.
