Premier League club Southampton have joined the race for Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, according to the Sun.

The report details that the £25million-rated 20-year-old is attracting a lot of interest in the Premier League and is already being eyed by West Ham, Everton and Leicester.

However, the Saints could be boosted in any deal with the Sun also claiming that left-back star Ryan Bertrand could be a part of the offer with manager Pep Guardiola looking to increase the amount of homegrown players in his squad.

The newspaper also quotes a “Etihad source” as to saying that Bertrand is an option for the cash-rich Manchester club and that Southampton have joined a “long list of clubs” who want to sign Iheanacho this summer.

“Southampton are now part of a long list of clubs that want Kelechi this summer,” told the source to the Sun.

“If the right offer comes in, he will go, and Ryan Bertrand is an option that has been talked about in the past.

“We know Saints are fans of Nacho after his performances against them in the past, he has an amazing record.”

Both West Ham and Everton were two of the initial clubs to be linked with Iheanacho at the beginning of the summer, but reports that Manchester City want to inset a buy-back clause on any deal has seemingly put a halt to proceedings

The Premier League duo have also been heavily linked to forward pair Sandro Ramirez and Olivier Giroud since and it is felt that both Ronald Koeman and Slaven Bilic want to add a new striker to their squad this summer.

Current Toffees star Romelu Lukaku is currently involved in much speculation with former club Chelsea, while Hammers ace Andy Carroll has struggled for fitness over the past two campaigns.

Iheanacho, who has scored 12 goals in 46 Premier League matches could be being viewed by both as a player of major potential, but the sides may also feel that is better value on the market.
