Rangers fans were left impressed on Twitter following the display of summer recruit Bruno Alves in the Confederations Cup for Portugal on Wednesday evening.
The 35-year-old centre-back veteran lined-up for last summer’s European Championship winners against Chile and played the full 90 minutes against such players as Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal.
He helped a defence containing both West Ham’s Jose Fonte and Southampton’s Cedric Soares keep a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw, but the result wasn’t enough for Alves’ team as Portugal were dumped out on penalties.
A number of Rangers fans were interested spectators of one their most reputable signings in a busy summer for the club and many stated on social media that they were impressed.
Some supporters shared that Alves had silenced the often effective Sanchez in the match, while one even stated that it wouldn’t be long until he was giving a similar performance against Celtic.

Alves has had a very colourful career to date, winning six top flight titles for such clubs as Porto, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Fenerbache.
He was also one of Pedro Caixinha’s first signings of the summer after joining in May and there are high hopes for the experienced defender.
