Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has made a bid for Aberdeen star Kenny McLean, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The newspaper has revealed that Caixinha is a big fan of McLean and has made the move to secure a deal with the Dons ace.

The Daily Record claims that Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes believes the 25-year-old is worth a sum in the seven-figures, but does not want to lose another player to Rangers after Caixinha secured Dons midfielder Ryan Jack.

The Scotland international made a valuable contribution to Aberdeen’s second place finish in the Scottish Premier League last season, after he provided four goals in addition to three assists throughout his 38 appearances in the competition.

Rangers finished in third place during the 2016/17 campaign just nine points behind McLean’s current club, and Caixinha will want to lure the midfielder to the Ibrox in order to rival domestic treble winners Celtic.

Gers boss has already made an impressive start to his first summer transfer window with the club and has completed a whopping eight deals so far.

If McLean was to move to the club this summer he would join Alfredo Morelos, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, Ryan Jack, Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Daniel Candeias, and Dalcio for the club’s 2017/18 campaign.

Caixinha could face competition from Harry Redknapp over the summer as the Daily Record have also reported that the Birmingham boss is also interested in making a swoop for the midfielder.

Redknapp attended the Scottish Cup final between Aberdeen and Celtic last season and was reportedly impressed by McLean’s performance.
