Leeds United are willing to offer Dutch left-back Ard van Peppen a contract as they step up plans to replace the departing Charlie Taylor, according to Roda JC Live.

The Dutch website claim that the Championship club are ready to make a move for the Roda defender, 31, as new manager Thomas Christiansen looks to reshape the playing squad at his disposal.

Roda JC claim that Christiansen presented a list of transfer targets to the United board on Wednesday and it featured the name of the experienced Van Peppen.

It is said that Leeds are willing to offer Van Peppen an initial 12-month contract that will include the option of a second year.

The Dutchman is not well known to English football fans but has a proven track record in the Dutch Eredivisie and appears to have been targeted as a replacement for Taylor, whose Leeds contract expires at the end of June.

Van Peppen was a mainstay of the Roda signed that finished 17th last season and narrowly avoided relegation from Holland’s top tier.

He made 34 appearances in all competitions, including 32 in the league, and has accumulated 166 Eredivisie appearances in a career spent entirely in his homeland.

Van Peppen has also played 173 matches in the Jupiler League, the Dutch second tier, and had spells at Dutch sides RKC Waalwijk, Excelsior and De Graafschap before joining Roda in 2013.

Leeds appear to be looking to the European market this summer following the arrival of Christiansen and the recently appointed director of football Victor Orta.
