Leeds fans have delivered a mixed response on Twitter to speculation that new manager Thomas Christiansen wants to sign former England Under-21 international Matt Derbyshire.
The Mail claim that Christiansen is weighing up a swoop for the former Premier League striker, 31, following his exploits in the Cyprus top flight last season.
It is said that the Leeds boss, who was appointed on Thursday in a move that sent shockwaves through English football, tried to sign the Omonia Nicosia striker when he was in charge at his previous club Apoel.
Christiansen is now reportedly plotting a second move for Derbyshire as he prepares to revamp the Leeds squad in readiness for a concerted promotion assault next season.
The Elland Road faithful are split between those who are excited at the possibility of a proven scorer heading to Elland Road and those who believe Derbyshire is not the man the club should be looking at.

Matt Derbyshire? I hope this is press making connections based on him playing in Cyprus #lufc

People realise that the link to Derbyshire is most likely speculation, right?#Lufc

#LUFC I think Derbyshire is a decent player tbh. Did well in a poor Rotherham side and scored more than Doukara did.

I suspect the links in the media stating #LUFC with Matt Derbyshire is another 2+2=5 just because he plays in Cyprus!

Matt Derbyshire won’t happen. Story’s got the whiff of tabloid fodder, drawing tenuous link with Cyprus. TC can and will do better #lufc.

Derbyshire is well known to English audiences for his spells at Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham, and has accumulated 212 appearances in the Premier League and Championship.
But it is at Omnosia where he has been at the most prolific in his career, with his 26 goals in Cyprus in 2016-17 firing him to the prestigious Golden Boot.
Leeds are in the market for a new forward after Chris Wood carried the goalscoring burden almost singlehandedly last season as his Championship-high tally of 27 goals almost fired the club into the play-offs.
Derbyshire has 12 months remaining on his contract at Omnosia.
