Recently relegated side Middlesbrough have placed a massive £25million price-tag on defender Ben Gibson, who is being monitored by a number of Premier League clubs, according to TeamTalk.

The football news website details that new appointment Garry monk has told the club’s chiefs that he wants to keep the 24-year-old.

However, the north east club face a fight with all of Tottenham, Everton, Chelsea, Leicester, Southampton and Stoke said to be monitoring him.

But, Boro are trying their best with their valuation of the defender, who is also the nephew of club chairman Steve Gibson and £25million is more than double their record received fee with both Stewart Downing and Juninho sharing the record after departing the club for £12million each.

It would also mark a hefty price for both Tottenham and Everton, despite their recent free spending with six players on each side only being brought to the club for more money, including star forward Romelu Lukaku.

Gibson himself impressed for the relegated Middlesbrough team in the last campaign, playing in each of their 38 Premier League matches.

He was also called up to the senior England national team for the first time last season, but is still waiting to make his debut.

The centre-back is still contracted to Middlesbrough until 2021, but he may also be looking to make an instant return to the Premier League at this stage of his career.
