Nottingham Forest are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Hibernian goalscorer Jason Cummings, according to a reliable journalist.

Telegraph correspondent John Percy revealed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday evening that the 21-year-old had completed a medical ahead of his proposed move to the Championship club.

The two clubs have already agreed a fee seven-figure fee of £1million that will see the goalscorer swap the Scottish Premiership for the English second-tier this summer.

But with the medical complete, it is understood that discussions are not set to enter the final stages.

He will join up with former Rangers boss Mark Warburton, who had expressed an interest in bringing Cummings to Ibrox, and he could become his first signing since taking over at the City Ground in March.

Cummings was in fine form for Hibernian last season as they secured promotion to Scotland’s top tier, netting 23 goals from 40 appearances in all competitions.

Warburton currently has no shortage of attacking options at his disposal, with talent such as Zach Clough, Britt Assombalonga, Apostolos Vellios and Ben Brereton among the current centre-forward options.

However, after only narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2016-17 season, Warburton has moved to acquire even further firepower on the goalscoring front.

Nottingham Forest fans have already given the thumbs up the potential deal, with many pleased that the club are set to snap up a prolific young goalscorer for only a bargain price.
