Graham Roberts believes Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino would make Everton midfielder Ross Barkley “world class” if he were to join the club.

The 23-year-old playmaker could be heading for the exit door this summer after manager Ronald Koeman clearly stated before the end of the Premier League season that he will be sold if he didn’t sign a new deal.

At this moment in time, Barkley, who has one-year left on his current contract at Goodison Park, has not put pen-to-paper on a new deal.

Former Spurs man Roberts has claimed that Pochettino is a big admirer of Barkley, who came under fire on a number of occasions from Koeman during the recently concluded campaign.

Roberts seemingly suggested that Barkley is a player he would like to see at Tottenham next season as they aim to mount another Premier League title charge.

“People keep asking me who I want us to sign, I think Pochettino likes Ross Barkley very much and potentially [he] can make him world class,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Barkley started off the season in poor fashion, getting dropped by England after the humiliation of Euro 2016 and then suffering the same fate at club level.

However, at the start of the calendar year, he turned his fortunes around and he was a key figure behind Everton securing a top-seven finish.

Over the course of the campaign, Barkley scored five goals and supplied nine assists from his 32 league games, he supplied and scored the majority of his goals after the new year.
