Celtic are eyeing a summer swoop for Blackburn Rovers ace Connor Mahoney, according to a Daily Mail report.
The newspaper claims Wolves and Nottingham Forest could rival the Glasgow giants in the race to sign the 20-year-old right-sided attacker.
It is said Mahoney is out of contract this summer, but Blackburn will still be due a compensation payment because he is under 24.
The report states that Forest are currently leading the race to sign Mahoney, who is keen on a move away from Ewood Park, following the club’s relegation to League One.
However, Celtic would be able to sign the 20-year-old for a lower price than the Championship duo, as the compensation fee for a cross-border move would be less than a transfer within England.
Mahoney enjoyed a decent 2016/17 campaign for Rovers, providing three assists in 14 Championship appearances.
Meanwhile, he shone for the club’s Under-23s outfit, scoring four goals in 11 Premier League 2 outings, as well as supplying two assists.
The 20-year-old joined Blackburn in December 2013 from Accrington Stanley, and he has since made 57 league and cup appearances for the club’s Under-23s.
The report states Forest manager Mark Warburton is looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, while the Hoops could see Mahoney as a potential replacement for Patrick Roberts.
